I want you to feel good about working with me. If something is not right, email me at [email protected] before you do anything else. I read every message myself and I will do my best to fix it. A conversation solves a lot of things that look like refund problems.
Here is the full policy so you know exactly where you stand.
Several refund tiers below depend on whether I have started research. So I made that a specific, checkable moment instead of a judgment call.
Work counts as started when I send you an email with the subject line "Research started". Until that email is in your inbox, no research has begun and your refund is 100%. This means you never have to take my word for where I am in the process. You can look in your own email.
Email me any time before you get my "Research started" email and you get a 100% refund ($295). No questions, no forms.
Once research has started, I refund 50% ($147.50) if you cancel before I send the snapshot. Pulling and checking school data is the bulk of this product, and by then it is underway.
Once the written snapshot is in your hands, that research is delivered and it is not refundable. I cannot un-send it.
Two things I do offer after delivery:
If you upgrade to The Roadmap or The Living Roadmap within 60 days of your List Check delivery, the full $295 comes off the package price. The Roadmap becomes $1,200 and The Living Roadmap becomes $2,700 for the first year.
A few details so there are no surprises:
100% refund ($1,495). The 15-minute intro call is free, and until you get my "Research started" email I have not built anything for you. Just email me.
75% refund ($1,121.25). I keep 25% to cover the intake review and the research already underway.
I want to be straight with you here. The roadmap is a custom research document built for one student. Once you have it, I cannot take it back, and a full refund would mean I did many hours of work for free while you keep the file. A full refund after delivery is not something I offer.
Here is what I do offer. If you tell me within 14 days of delivery that the roadmap does not fit your student, I will revise it once at no charge. If the revision still does not work for you, I will refund 25% ($373.75) and we part on good terms. You keep both versions of the document.
The 45-minute review session and the 30 days of follow-up questions are part of the price. If the roadmap has been delivered and we have not yet held the review session when you ask for a refund, I will add $200 to a post-delivery refund. That $200 add-on applies only after delivery. The 30 days of follow-up access are not separately refundable.
You can cancel whenever you want. Email me and I will stop the plan and turn off future billing. No cancellation fee, no exit interview.
So that proration is transparent, here is exactly how I split the $2,995 first year:
The first quarterly refresh is due roughly 90 days after the roadmap is delivered, and then every 90 days after that.
Before research starts: 100% refund ($2,995).
After research starts and before the roadmap is delivered: 75% refund ($2,246.25).
After the roadmap is delivered, I refund the parts of the plan I have not delivered yet:
A renewal year is $1,495, split as $299 for each of the four quarterly refreshes and $299 for the annual strategy call.
Cancel mid-year and I refund $299 for each quarterly refresh you have not received, plus $299 if the annual call has not happened. Example: you cancel one month into a renewal year, you have received one refresh, and we have not had the annual call. That is three refreshes plus the call, so $1,196 back.
A refresh counts as received on the day I send it.
The plan auto-renews once a year at $1,495 until your student graduates high school or you cancel. I email you a reminder 21 days before each renewal charge with the exact date and amount. Cancel any time before that charge goes through and you owe nothing.
If a renewal bills and you tell me within 14 days that you meant to cancel, I refund that charge in full and the plan ends. You do not have to explain yourself.
At signup I ask for your student's expected high school graduation year, and I set the plan to stop billing after that year. If the graduation year changes, tell me and I will update it. I do not keep billing families after a student graduates. If your student graduates or leaves school partway through a paid year, the same proration above applies.
Most of my clients are minors, so this part matters more than the rest.
If you are frustrated, disappointed, or just confused about what you got, email me at [email protected] and say so plainly. I would much rather fix the work than process a refund. That usually looks like a rewrite, another call, or a different set of schools to look at, and it usually costs you nothing.
I am asking, not requiring. You do not lose any refund right described above by skipping straight to a refund request.
I aim to reply within one business day. I am one person, so if you catch me during a deadline week it might be two.
I am a solo practitioner, so life occasionally gets in the way. If I have to step back for illness, a family emergency, or any other reason, or if I decide I am not the right fit for your student and end the engagement myself, you get a full refund of everything I have not delivered, with no percentage held back.
If I miss or move a scheduled call, that is on me. I will reschedule at your convenience and it costs you nothing.
Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe. I do not send checks, store credit, or payments to a different card. I never see or store your card number.
Timing: I submit the refund within 3 business days of agreeing to it. Stripe then takes about 5 to 10 business days to land the money on your card or bank statement. That second part is out of my hands. If two weeks have passed and you do not see it, email me and I will send you the Stripe confirmation.
If the card you paid with has since been closed, the refund still goes to that account and your bank routes it from there. I cannot redirect it to a different card, so you would need to contact your bank.
You always have the right to dispute a charge with your card issuer, and I will not fight you on it. I do ask for one email first so I have a chance to make it right, because a dispute takes weeks and an email takes minutes. If a dispute is filed on an active plan, I will pause the work until it is resolved.
This is the short list of things I cannot undo.
I work on US undergraduate college admissions strategy, delivered virtually, anywhere in the country.
I separately volunteer as a West Point admissions evaluator. That role is unpaid and completely separate from this practice. I do not evaluate Waypoint clients, I do not charge anyone I evaluate, and Waypoint offers no paid service academy admissions consulting. If it ever turns out that a student I am assigned to evaluate is also a Waypoint client, I will end the paid engagement and refund everything I have not yet delivered, in full. Waypoint Admissions is not affiliated with or endorsed by any college, university, or service academy.
Your student is the sole author of their own applications and essays. I do not write or rewrite essays, and I do not fill out applications. I advise. They write.
If I update this policy, the version in effect on the day you paid is the one that applies to that purchase. I will not change the terms out from under an active client.
For The Living Roadmap, any change takes effect at your next renewal, and I will tell you about it in the 21-day renewal reminder so you can decide before you are charged.
Email is the fastest way to reach me and it is how I handle every refund and cancellation request, so there is a written record for both of us.
